📷 Have you found a camera?

Thank you for taking part in the project!

2️⃣ Report the camera

Send us a photo of the device (or a photo or video of you with it), your GPS location and your town/city and country.

3️⃣ Pass the camera on

Once you’ve taken your photos, pass the camera on to someone else. For example: to someone you meet, to a traveller, in a café, restaurant or shop, or to anyone willing to carry on the experience.

1️⃣ Take 3 photos

Take photos of whatever you like: a place, a scene from everyday life, a chance encounter.
⚠️ Never open the camera (there’s film inside).

When the film is finished, or if the camera is jammed (DO NOT FORCE)

Give the camera to a French traveller returning to France. This person scans the QR code to confirm they have the camera. We will send them a prepaid shipping label so they can send the camera back to us. The camera is then returned to Galeo Studio in Bordeaux, the film is developed and the photos from the trip are revealed.

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I do if the device stops working?

The devices we use are quite old and can sometimes break down. If the device no longer activates or if the mechanism seems to be jammed, please let us know!

What should I do if I can’t find anyone to pass the camera on to?

You can leave it in a welcoming public place, such as a café, restaurant, bookshop or shop. Simply ask the staff to keep it in plain sight so that someone can find it.

Why use film cameras?

Film photography creates a different experience and freezes time. The images aren’t visible straight away; each photo is unique: the film becomes a collective memory.

Are there any rules about what I can photograph?

Please respect local laws and people’s privacy. Avoid photographing: sensitive situations, places where photography is prohibited, or people without their consent.

Is the project sponsored?

NomadCams is currently an independent art project created by Galeo Studio, but we remain open to proposals.

What happens to the camera after the film has been developed?

After development, the camera can be loaded with a new roll of film and sent off on a new journey. Each camera can thus create several photographic stories over time.

❤️ Thank you for helping the camera travel. Every participant becomes part of this film’s story.
